# Terminate card

> Close a card by issuer card id.

Closes a card. This call takes `card_id`, the issuer card id. The other card endpoints identify the card with `user_id`, and the [card object](https://docs.xwift.africa/guides/cards.md#card-object) does not include `card_id`.

`data` is the issuer result and may be `null`. It is not a card object.

**card\_id** `string` *required*

Issuer card id.

### Errors

| - | - |
| `The card id field is required.` | `card_id` is missing |
| `An unexpected error occurred. Please try again.` | The card could not be terminated |
